Electricity tariff adjustment in 2021

By in Articles with 0 Comments

Compared to previous years, the price of electricity in 2021 will change, so its cost will be slightly revised. These new versions were scheduled to be launched in November 2020, but due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus, they will be postponed until 1 April this year.

This new electricity bill will not have much impact on households due to time discrimination. Although this situation has disappeared, if you use a fixed tariff, continue reading this article, because it will bring important changes. If you wish, you should take this into consideration and save a lot of money every month.

The most essential changes in the households are:

The energy cycle is adjusted to three per day: peak, flat and off-peak.
You can choose between two power cycles

On the other hand, you must remember that if you rate the voltage at a lower rate (less than 15 kW), it will become 2.0, because the rest of the voltage is unified at this rate. Therefore, given that we are talking about the contracting rate of more users, it will affect the vast majority of households the cheapest electricity and a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises.

How to save with the new daily time periods?

As we mentioned, if approved in April, the new electricity price in 2021 will bring with it the implementation of three different electricity price cycles. This will be an expensive period, a cheap period and an intermediate period, depending on the time of the week and the day of the week, which we will cover in detail in the next part of the article.

The difference between the periods will be very significant. Therefore, with the 2021 electricity tariff reform, we will have to programme household appliances more than ever and carefully evaluate the date and time when we consume energy. In other words, we advise you to make an effective consumption, including moving it to the cheapest times and days of the week.

When will electricity be the cheapest in 2021?

If you want to save energy, we recommend that you persist in using energy mainly during the hours and days of the cheapest electricity. These are as follows:

Any day of the week, from 00:00 in the morning until 8:00 in the morning. This period coincides with the off-peak period.
Uninterrupted on weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays, you don’t have to worry about the weather.
National holidays have fixed dates. For example, 1 May.

When will electricity tariffs be more expensive in 2021?

Under the new electricity tariff in 2021, electricity consumption from Monday to Friday will increase in the middle of the day, but from 2 to 6 o’clock will be the average price, at which time the electricity price will be at the average level. It should therefore be avoided from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00 in the morning.

Finally, in the middle of the week, it might be interesting if you cannot spend the cheapest time. This includes 10:00 pm to 12:00 am, 8:00 am to 10:00 am, and lunch breaks from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

New electricity price 2.0 TD months

The process of splitting the four seasons into several months was initially considered, but has not yet been approved, so this measure will not be implemented in 2.0 TD. In other words, it will not affect the vast majority of families.

In any case, if there are any changes, we will notify you immediately. Of course, the rates for the remaining months will be effective every month, as shown below:

High season. January, February, July and December. In other words, the months in which we spend the most on heating or air conditioning.
Medium high season. March and November are still very cold, but using appliances for pre-heating is not as common as in the colder months.
Mid season is June, August and September.
The low season and the cheapest seasons are April, May and October.

Another detail that will eventually be excluded from the new electricity price in 2021 is that the switchboard’s ICP will no longer be triggered, instead you will have to pay an additional tariff whenever you exceed the contractual power.
